I forgot my Username / Password. What should I do?

If you are an Online Banking customer and you've forgotten your Username, contact us at the numbers below. If you've forgotten your Password, visit the Password Reset page.

If you need more assistance, call Online Banking Customer Support at 1-800-488-2265, option 3. If you're outside the U.S., call 1-925-975-3202; before the "1," be sure to use any applicable exit code (for example, dial 00 in the UK).

What’s the Bank of the West routing number?

For checking accounts, the routing number is 121100782. For all other accounts, contact your branch for help.

How do I open a new account?

Bank of the West allows multiple types of accounts to be opened through your local branch or online. Use the links below to get more information about various types of Bank of the West accounts or, if you’re ready, you can apply for an account online now.1

How do I find my checking account number?

Look at the bottom left corner of your checks. The first nine-digit number on the left is the bank routing number. Immediately to the right of that is your checking account number.

Can I order checks online?

The easiest way to order checks is by calling or visiting your local branch. If you have ordered checks within the past 24 months, and have your check reorder form (see your second to last booklet of checks) and the start number for your next sequence of checks (on your reorder form), you can order more checks online.

What do I do if my credit or debit card is lost or stolen?

To report your lost or stolen credit card, call 1-800-996-2638 immediately; we’re available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you’re outside the U.S., call 1-808-842-3100.

To report unauthorized or incorrect electronic funds transfers (including ATM or debit card transactions as well as other electronic deposits, withdrawals or transfers), or to report a debit card lost or stolen, call 1-800-488-2265, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

How do I enroll in Online Banking?

Secure and convenient, our Online Banking site lets you manage your checking, savings and investment accounts all in one place. It’s easy to enroll. Just visit our Online Banking enrollment page and have your account number, social security number and email address ready.

How do I enroll in Mobile Banking?

Simply enroll in Online Banking and use the same username and password to access Mobile Banking on the go.

How do I view my balance online?

There are a few ways you can access your balance.

For our Online Banking customers, simply sign in to Online Banking by visiting bankofthewest.com and enter your user name and password. Once signed in, your account balances will be available online. Not already enrolled in Online Banking? Just visit our Online Banking enrollment page and have your account number, social security number and email address ready.

For our mobile-savvy customers, visit our mobile app page to learn how you can access your account balance.

You can always visit any of our bank branches to view your balances as well.

How do I start using Bill Pay?

Sign in to Online Banking by visiting bankofthewest.com and entering your user name and password. Once signed in, click Bill Pay to begin.

How do I view my account statements online?

You can enroll for paperless statements through Online Banking. Click on the Online Statements link under Accounts. If you're already enrolled, you can look at your statements anytime using the same Online Statements link; click View Online next to any account, and click PDF to save a copy.

How do I access my accounts on my phone or other mobile device?

How do I set up account alerts?

To set up alerts, simply sign in to Online Banking and visit the Alerts section. There’s no Bank of the West fee to use these alerts.

Can I open a checking or savings account online, or move an account from another bank?

Yes, you can open certain specific Bank of the West personal checking and savings accounts online, with a maximum of two applicants per account. Trusts / beneficiary accounts may require that you open the account in your local branch.

Looking to move your accounts from another bank? Switching is as easy as 1-2-3. Simply open your new account, switch your automatic payments, and close your old account. Download our Guide to Moving Your Accounts, which walks you through the step-by-step process to move your direct debits, bill payees and personal information to Bank of the West. It also helps you with what you need to do to close your accounts elsewhere. The easy instructions include a Direct Deposit Authorization form, Automatic Withdrawal Authorization form and an Account Closure Authorization form.

How do I set up direct deposit on a new or existing account?

Easy instructions and a Direct Deposit Authorization form are included in our Guide to Moving Your Accounts. You'll need your account number and the Bank of the West routing number (121100782). In certain cases you'll need a voided check from your account.

How do I open a CD and what are the terms / rates?

Bank of the West CDs can be opened at a branch. You can compare terms and interest rates on our CD accounts page. We offer a variety of flexible terms, from 7 days to 5 years.1

How do I apply for a credit card?

Call 1-866-269-2327, Monday through Friday, 6a.m.—7p.m. Pacific Time to learn more and apply, or you can also apply online.

I’m traveling abroad. Do I notify the bank, and what else should I do to prepare myself financially?

Before you leave on your trip, call or visit your local Bank of the West branch and let them know where and when you’re going. It’s also a good idea to contact card services at 1-800-996-2638, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We monitor your debit and credit activity, and may place holds on your cards if we suspect fraudulent activity. Notifying us in advance of international travel helps us to better determine if activity on your account is suspicious or not.

Where can I fill out a mortgage application through Bank of the West?

What types of investment accounts can I open?

With BancWest Investment Services, you can open up a personal account (non-retirement individual, joint, custodial, and trust accounts) or retirement account (traditional or rollover IRA, Roth IRA, inherited IRA, SEP IRA, or Coverdell Educational Account). Apply online by visiting our investments page and clicking the Open an Account button, or use the paper application.3
