Bank of the West Rockin' O!maha Band Contest: Vote for Your Favorite Up-and-Coming Band

Winning Band Will Open for Cheap Trick and 38 Special on July 1

Calling all bands! Bank of the West is looking to find an up-and-coming band to perform before thousands of people at Bank of the West Celebrates America, a free outdoor concert and fireworks show on July 1, at Memorial Park in Omaha, Nebraska.

This will be the 21st anniversary of this annual rock-in-the-park concert that features national bands and attracts more than 50,000 people.

The winner of the Bank of the West Rockin' O!maha Band Contest  will open for Cheap Trick and 38 Special, this year's headliner bands.  The public will vote online for their favorite band, and input will be provided by judges representing one of Hollywood's top talent agencies Creative Artists Agency (CAA); nationally known music venue Slowdown, developed by Jason Kulbel and Robb Nansel of Saddle Creek Records; award-winning Romeo Entertainment Group and San Francisco-based Bank of the West.

The winning band will be determined by its popularity among online voters along with its musical talent and star power.  The judges will provide input on musical talent, such as musical ability, expertise and originality of music, and star power, including stage presence, personality and creativity.

"Last year, we launched Your Vote Rocks and asked Omaha to vote on the national bands for our 20th anniversary event. This year we're going even bigger: In a nationwide competition, we're inviting everyone across the country to vote online for an up-and-coming band to open for Cheap Trick and 38 Special," said Robert Dalrymple, Executive Vice President, Bank of the West's Great Plains Division.

To enter the Bank of the West Rockin' O!maha Band Contest, an active member or official representative of the band enters their band through the Bank of the West Facebook page, facebook.com/BankoftheWest. The deadline to enter is May 31, 2011. Competition details are available on Facebook. The public is invited to recommend their favorite up-and-coming bands on Facebook now until May 31, 2011.

Online public voting for the best band will be June 1-17, 2011, on Facebook. The winning band will be announced on Facebook June 20, 2011.
