Bank of the West Announces Corporate Sponsorship of Sonoma Valley Museum of Art Programs
San Francisco | Dec 16, 2015
Bank of the West announces the renewal of their support of the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art (SVMA) and its programs. The relationship includes co-sponsorship of SVMA’s “Art Rewards the Student” (A.R.T.S.) education program for the 2015-2016 school year and co-underwriter of the SVMA exhibitions, “Contemplative Elements: Danae Mattes and Francis McCormack” and the multimedia exhibition “Between Nature and Technology” by Courtney Eagan and David Sullivan, both scheduled from December 19, 2015 through March 6, 2016.
“We are pleased to support SVMA’s innovative A.R.T.S. program for Sonoma Valley schools, as well as the new art exhibitions at its Museum again this year,” said Maria Lazzarini, executive vice president, Bank of the West. “Bank of the West is committed to the communities we serve and our excited to continue our support of art education and creativity.”
Initiated in 2000, A.R.T.S. places teaching artists in Sonoma Valley 4th and 5th grade classrooms, with activities and current SVMA exhibition themes integrated with the public school curriculum. SVMA is a magnet for creative energy and cultural inspiration, engaging the community in the art and ideas, encouraging curiosity and innovation. The “Contemplative Elements” exhibit will combine landscape drawings, stark architectural elements and loosely interpreted botanical forms, in paintings that reflect the natural world in an invented space. For the “Between Nature and Technology” exhibit, the art will span animation, sound, sculpture, and photography to explore the delicate and evolving relationship between people, technology and the environment.
“We are grateful for Bank of the West’s continued financial support of our two key programs which directly benefits Sonoma Valley schools and the community,” said SVMA Board President Doug Wilson.
Bank of the West’s sponsorship of SVMA continues its growing support of the arts. Currently, Bank of the West is the Presenting Sponsor of Frank Gehry at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and also supports the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Bank of the West has also sponsored exhibits at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco since 2008.
