Maura Markus Maura Markus President and Chief Operating Officer

Maura Markus was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Bank of the West in March 2010. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of Bank of the West and BancWest Corporation, and of the Bank's Executive Management Committee.

Markus is responsible for the Bank's Retail Banking, Small Business Banking and Wealth Management businesses, as well as strategic, enterprise-wide programs such as digital delivery, marketing and brand development.

Before joining Bank of the West, Markus was a 22-year veteran of Citigroup, having most recently served as Head of International Retail Banking in Citi's Global Consumer Group. She held a number of additional domestic and international management positions including President, Citibank North America from 2000 to 2007. In this position, she also served as Chairman of Citibank West. Markus also served as Citi's European Sales and Marketing Director in Brussels, Belgium, and as President of Citi's consumer business in Greece.

Markus is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc., a NYSE listed company headquartered in Lake Success, New York, and is also a member of The Financial Services Roundtable. Among her numerous community interests, she is a Board member of Catholic Charities CYO of San Francisco.

Markus earned her BA from Boston College and her MBA from Harvard Business School.
