What you can expect from us

We know that the coronavirus (COVID-19) is affecting each of us differently. As this situation continues to evolve, we’re taking steps to help our customers and employees stay safe and healthy. We are following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to protect the health and well-being of everyone in our branches and other facilities. Beyond taking these precautions, we’re sharing resources to help you manage your finances.

Help for our loan customers
If you’ve been impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19), and are unable to make your loan payment we’re here to help. There is no need to call. Simply send us an email.

  • Consumer loan and credit card customers please email covidhelp@bankofthewest.com and a banker will contact you within 3-5 calendar days.
  • Mortgage, home equity line of credit and home equity loan customers please email mortgagehelp@bankofthewest.com and a banker will contact you within 5-7 calendar days.

In your email please provide:

  • The account holder’s first and last name
  • The best phone number for the account holder

Emails can be sent through your Bank of the West account secure messaging portal or through your regular email.

Help with all other accounts
If you need assistance with your accounts, please call us at 800-488-2265 (TTY 800-659-5495). We may have programs to assist you and would be happy to discuss your unique situation.

Temporary branch banking changes

For the safety and well-being of our customers and team members we are temporarily adjusting our branch operations.

Branch Hours

Most branches are open, however, we encourage you to use the Branch Locator for the latest updates for your specific branch.

Branches with a drive-up window

The branch lobby will be open with controlled branch access, and the drive-up window remains open to serve your banking needs.

Branches with no drive-up window

Will remain open, however, we will be limiting the number of customers in the branch to promote social distancing.

Small and medium sized business customers

Small businesses are vital to our economy and our goal is to help all of our customers bounce back from this situation as quickly as possible. If your business needs assistance with your accounts, your business relationship manager or branch manager is the best place to start to discuss your situation. You may also receive assistance by calling 888-789-2345 (TTY 800-659-5495).

UPDATE: SBA Paycheck Protection Program (PPP)
On March 27, 2020 the federal government approved an economic disaster relief program that will provide $367 billion in loans to small businesses via the Small Business Administration (SBA). The program will provide low-interest loans to cover payroll costs, paid sick leave, employee salaries, health-insurance premiums, rent, utilities, and mortgage interest payments. As a certified SBA lender, we are ready to help.

Our interpretation of the program eligibility is that it applies to businesses, non-profit & veterans organizations, some self-employed independent contractors & sole proprietors, and tribal businesses with up to 500 employees. We are waiting for the SBA to provide program guidelines, and will provide frequent updates here as they become available. In the meantime, below is a list of documents we recommend you gather in preparation to apply for the program:

  • Monthly Payroll records from February 2019 through 2020 that might be required, such as:
    • Payroll tax filings reported to IRS
    • Payroll Summary Report
    • Breakdown of payroll benefits (vacation, allowance for dismissal, group healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, etc.)
    • 1099 MISC
  • 2017 and 2018 tax returns
  • Either: 2019 tax return or year-end financials

We are prepared to offer financial solutions and continue to provide uninterrupted service and support to our corporate and commercial clients, as we understand that you may experience disruptions to your business at this time.

Our Relationship Managers are connecting with customers and discussing solutions on a case by case basis. Please reach out to your Relationship Manager if you have any questions or need assistance.

In-person meetings by appointment

Our advisors are available to consult with you one-on-one with regards to the markets and your financial accounts with us. Whether you meet with your advisor in a branch or a Wealth Center, we ask that you schedule your meeting, as our wealth offices are currently closed for walk-in visits.

Rest assured, when you do visit us, we continue to follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

Help protect yourself from scams

Amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, scams and fraud are on the rise. Be alert. Bank of the West will never email or call you asking for your One-Time Passcode (OTP) or your username or password.
