  • What's the Bank of the West routing number?
    For checking accounts, the routing number is 121100782. You can also find it through online banking or your mobile app. To find your routing number through Online Banking, click Services & Support, then under Help, click Routing Number. On your mobile app, tap on the account, then tap the gear icon in the upper right corner of the app.
  • I forgot my Username / Password. What should I do?
    To recover your username or password, go to the Sign In area on bankofthewest.com and click Forgot Username or Password. On your mobile app, you can do so by tapping Forgot Sign In.
  • How do I open a new account?
    You can open a new account online or at a local branch. See the various types of Bank of the West accounts here, and click Apply Now when you're ready to apply.
  • How do I find my checking account number?
    You can find it though Online Banking, your mobile app, or on your checks. In Online Banking, click Services & Support, then under Preferences, click Account Display Preferences, select the option Show my account numbers, and click Save. On your mobile app, tap on the account, then tap the gear icon in the upper right corner of the app. If you have your checks handy, look at the bottom left corner of your check. The first nine-digit number on the left is the bank routing number. Immediately to the right of that is your checking account number.
  • What do I do if my credit or debit card is lost or stolen?

    For credit cards, report a lost or stolen credit card by calling 1-800-996-2638 option #2 / TTY 1-800-659-5495 immediately. If you’re outside the U.S., call collect 1-402-918-9370.

    To report unauthorized or incorrect electronic funds transfers (including ATM or debit card transactions as well as other electronic deposits, withdrawals or transfers), or to report an ATM or debit card lost or stolen, call 1-800-488-2265, option 0, then option 1 / TTY 1-800-659-5495 immediately. If you’re outside of the U.S., call collect 1-925-975-3202.

  • How do I enroll in Online Banking?
    Visit our Online Banking enrollment page and have your account number, Social Security number and email address ready.
  • How do I enroll in Mobile Bankingfootnote2?
    First, enroll in Online Banking on bankofthewest.com. You'll use the same username and password to log into your mobile app. To get the mobile app, go to your App Store, search for Bank of the West with the green stars logo, and download the app.
  • How do I view my balance online?

    There are a few ways you can access your balance.

    Online Banking

    Sign in to Online Banking and enter your username and password. Once signed in, your account balances will be available online.

    Mobile App

    View account balances and last five transactions from your Android, iPhone® or iPad® app without signing in.footnote3

    Branches

    Visit any of our bank branches to view your balances as well.

  • How do I start using Bill Pay?
    Sign in to Online Banking and enter your username and password. Once signed in, select Bill Pay to begin.
  • How do I view my account statements online?
    Once you've signed in to Online Banking, you can access your account statements in a couple different ways:
    • Go to the Accounts tab and select "Statements & Documents"
    • Go to the Services & Support tab and select "View Statements and Documents"
    From the mobile app, go to the "More" menu and select "Account Statements."
  • How do I access my accounts on my phone or other mobile device?

    Use our Mobile Appfootnote2, try out text banking or give us a call.

  • How do I set up account alertsfootnote2?
    To set up alerts, simply sign in to Online Banking and visit the Alerts section. There’s no Bank of the West fee to use these alerts.
  • Can I open a checking or savings account online, or move an account from another bank?

    Yes, you can open certain specific Bank of the West personal checking and savings accounts online, with a maximum of two applicants per account. Trusts / beneficiary accounts may require that you open the account in your local branch.

    Moving an account from another bank

    Open your new account, switch your automatic payments, and close your old account. Download our Guide to Moving Your Accounts, which walks you through the step-by-step process to move your direct debits, bill payees and personal information to Bank of the West. It also helps you with what you need to do to close your accounts elsewhere. The easy instructions include a Direct Deposit Authorization form, Automatic Withdrawal Authorization form and an Account Closure Authorization form.
  • How do I set up direct deposit on a new or existing account?
    Get instructions and a Direct Deposit Authorization form in our Download our Guide to Moving Your Accounts. You'll need your account number and the Bank of the West routing number (121100782). In certain cases, you’ll need a voided check from your account.
  • How do I open a CD and what are the terms / rates?
    Bank of the West CDs can be opened at a branch. You can compare terms and interest rates on our CD accounts page. We offer a variety of flexible terms, from seven days to five years.footnote4
  • How do I qualify for Bank of the West Premierfootnote* benefits?
    Bank of the West provides automatic access to the Bank of the West Premier program (“Program”) to personal account holders who open at least one (1) Bank of the West Premier Checking accountfootnote*. The Program is only available to personal account holders and not available to businesses.
  • What is the Premier Retirement Checkup?
    As a Premier client you are entitled to a no-obligation retirement assessment provided through BancWest Investment Services, Bank of the West’s affiliated broker-dealer. It starts with a simple five-minute appointment. Talk to your Banker today to schedule an appointment with a BancWest Investment Services Financial Advisor.
  • Do my BancWest Investment Services'footnote** investment account balances count towards my minimum balance requirement to waive the Bank of the West Premier Checking monthly service charge?
    Yes. We will utilize the balance information for all eligible investment accounts as received from affiliates and third party providers maintained at BancWest Investment Services.
  • What are the Bank of the West Premier Customer Service hours?
    You can contact Bank of the West Premier Customer Service at 1-844-3GO-West (346-9378), Monday through Friday, 6 a.m to midnight Central Time and 7 a.m. to midnight Central Time, weekends and most holidays.
  • What credit cards do you offer?
    We offer a variety of credit cards through MasterCard® with different rates and benefits. Visit our credit cards page for the details of each card.footnote4
  • How do I apply for a credit card?
    You can apply online for our Cash Back and Platinum Mastercards by going to Compare Credit Cards and clicking "Apply Now" next to the card you want. Alternatively you can apply by calling 1-866-269-2327, TTY 1-800-659-5495, Mon–Fri 7 am–5 pm PT.  To apply for the Secured Credit Card, visit your local branch.
  • I’m traveling (either domestically or internationally). Do I need to notify the bank? What else should I do to prepare myself financially?
    Before you leave on your trip, complete a travel notice through Online Banking or your mobile app. In Online Banking, click Services and Support and below Card Services, click Manage Travel Notices. In the Mobile App, tap More at the bottom right corner of your app, under Account Services, tap Card Services, then Manage Travel Notices. Alternatively you can call credit card services at 1-800-996-2638/TTY 1-800-659-5495 or visit your local branch and let them know where and when you’re going.
  • Where can I fill out a mortgage application through Bank of the West?
    Complete an application online or, if you need more information about mortgages, visit our mortgage loans pagefootnote4. Manage your existing mortgage payments or other mortgage loan inquiries by calling 1-888-915-2327 / TTY 1-800-659-5495.
  • I have some questions about my existing credit card. Is there a phone number I can call to talk to a bank representative?

  • What investment products does BancWest Investment Services offer?
    BancWest Investment Services offers a variety of securities to be traded, including No Load and Load Waived Mutual Funds, Equities, Exchange Traded Funds, and Options.   • What types of investment accounts can I open?
    With BancWest Investment Services, you can open up a personal account (non-retirement individual, joint, custodial, and trust accounts) or retirement account (traditional or rollover IRA, Roth IRA, inherited IRA, SEP IRA, or Coverdell Educational Account). Apply online by visiting our investments page and clicking the Open an Account button, or use the paper application.
  • How do I roll over a 401(k)?
    Visit our Rollover IRA page to view all the benefits and get more information, or call BancWest Investment Services at 1-800-338-3919 / TTY 1-866-936-2689 to apply.
  • What wealth management services and portfolio types are offered through Bank of the West?
    Get wealth management services such as retirement planning, trust and estate planning, as well as private client advising.   • How do I verify a Bank of the West website is authentic?
    Avoid clicking a web link through an email. Open a new window with your browser and type www.bankofthewest.com. Look for the VeriSign icon on Bank of the West’s website. To thwart "spoofing" (also known as page stealing) of our website, we have added an additional layer of security called VeriSign. The VeriSign seal permits consumers to verify the legitimacy of our site. Consumers are able to click to a certification page that authenticates the site, if it is indeed ours.
  • I think my personal information has been compromised. What do I do?
    Immediately notify us and your other financial institution(s). You’ll need to get new account numbers and select a new PIN. If you are in fact, a victim of identity theft, we will offer assistance to help remedy the situation. Call the three major credit bureaus to request that a fraud alert be placed on your credit report: Call the Federal Trade Commission’s ID Theft hotline at 1-877-IDTHEFT to report it. The FTC will take a report, notify law enforcement officials and offer advice.
  • What do I do if my credit or debit card is lost or stolen?
