Zelle is a new and easy way to send money on your mobile phone to almost anyone, no matter where they bank.1, 2 It's fast and secure.
What else is great about Zelle? Sending money is practically seamless, since it's often deposited directly into your recipient's account within minutes.1 There's also a handy Split feature that lets you easily divide expenses, making things like splitting restaurant tabs, settling up with roommates, or reimbursing for group gifts easier.


How to send money
- Open Zelle in Payments & Transfers on the Bank of the West mobile app and select "Send."
- Choose a contact, or add their U.S. mobile number or email address.
- Add the amount and an optional note, then send.
If the recipient is enrolled with Zelle, the money is often deposited into their account in minutes. If not, they'll get the funds within 1 to 3 business days after enrolling.1
How to request money
- Open Zelle in Payments & Transfers on the Bank of the West mobile app and select "Request."
- Choose a contact, or add their U.S. mobile number or email address.
- Enter the amount you're requesting and an optional note to say what it's for, then send.
Your recipient will get a request to send you money,2 and you'll often receive the funds within minutes after they've sent them.1
How to use the split feature
- Open Zelle in Payments & Transfers on the Bank of the West mobile app and select "Split."
- Choose each contact in the group who owes you money, or add their U.S. mobile number or email address.
- Enter the total amount to be split.
- Add an optional note and send.
The app will calculate each person's share, and you can adjust the amounts if necessary. Each recipient will then get a request to pay you back.

Which accounts work with Zelle?
You can use your checking, savings, or money market savings account to send and receive money with Zelle.

Are there fees for sending or requesting money with Zelle?
There are no fees to use Zelle through Bank of the West Online Banking or the Mobile App. At times, Zelle may send you notifications via text message if you have registered your U.S. mobile phone. Your wireless provider may charge you per text message, so check your wireless plan before using the service.

Why don't I see money or a payment that I'm expecting?
There are two main reasons why an incoming payment could be missing.
- The payment was sent to an email address or mobile phone number not currently registered to your Zelle profile, or the sender entered the wrong email address or mobile number. Verify the address or mobile number used by the sender.
- If you have multiple banking accounts, it is possible that the email address or mobile number entered by the sender is linked to a different banking account that you own. Verify that the deposit account is correct.
